Interview – Cllr Martin Aldred

How much do we really know about our councillors? We may have spoken to them when we have an issue but apart from that we don’t really know the person behind the public image. I asked the local Labour councillors for a sit down chat to dig little deeper into what makes our councillors tick…

This week, I’ve sat down with Cllr Martin Aldred to find out a little more information than just what we read in the paper or newsletters… here is how our little Q & A session went? – Keep an eye out for my cheeky notes 🙂

Name:

Martin Luke Aldred “Please don’t post my middle name” – Oops 🙂

Occupation:

I’ve been doing locksmithing since I was 9 years old, starting from just picking simple locks and cutting keys to working my way through the ranks to become a manager & tutor at Train locksmiths Ltd. I have always had a passion for helping people, so despite all the negativity and bullying a councillor can receive, I ran and was elected as the councillor for Atherton Ward in 2015 and I’m up for election again next year in May 2019. – Sounds like a sales pitch 🙂

Achievements:

Becoming a Councillor & Meeting the Queen – Hope he took home a cucumber sandwich for his mum lol

Qualifications:

NVQ level 5 in Leadership & Management, NVQ Level 6 in Certification in Education (In progress) & NVQ Level 4 in Locksmithing.

Hobbies & Interests –

Badminton, Brazilian Jui Jitsu, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Boxing… Basically anything that can cause an injury – Let’s hope I don’t upset him then 🙂
